The History of the Houlan Islands
My father was a mate on one of the last ships that rounded the Cape Honor. They used trainees who even paid apprentices to get experience. You needed to be on board the ship for more than several years I think if I read it correctly. But anyway so that's why they managed to keep this alive and there was this tradition from the 1800s. The people didn't know much else but how to earn their living at sea.
