The Story of Unbecoming More Than Anything
There's a bit of a nod to Dickens in this book. Yayo's mum is there called a stellar and then there's the Bleaker House Detention Center. This is a story of unbecoming more than anything else, he says. In those kinds of stories traditionally, you have a sense of self which forms into a sort of coherent individuation. The story with Yair almost is the opposite. He begins in a place of absence and tries to evade formulations of identity the entire time.
