Happiness and wealth are not things that you can go at directly. You can't say, my objective is happiness. I am going to seek happiness bhe example i give you is an organism. It has to ensue, not be pursued, precisely. Gerard himself has exaggerated the importance of these mechanism, even though they are incredibly important. That's why i describe him as a rescuer of spirit. He rescues a crucial and important part of the human psyche, but is by no means the extent of it. Clearly reason operates in some fashion. Clearly appetite works in some way. And clearly these three interact in somefashion. But he is interested in describing this one part of human
