In 2007, years before this, there was the last WGA strike. The writer strike that happened in 2007 did a two pronged thing. And at the cost that came from that was the degradation of the TV industry into non-scripted television. Now most of the things you see on any video game today are body scans with motion capture. It's cheaper to hire a machine and a processor than it is to hire a human being.
