The Rise and Fall of Carthage
Carthage was a trading outpost that was established by the Phoenicians who were a group of traitors for a modern day Lebanon. By 300 BCE when Carthage and Rome were beginning to step on each other's feet Carthage was truly the master of the western Mediterranean. Compared to Rome it was larger in size, it was wealthier and it had a navy which Rome didn't even consider at that point. It tried again to take out Sicily because if you're establishing a trade empire throughout the entire Mediterranean you need to have Sicily in your back pocket.
