The Difference Between Permission and Permissionless Block Chains?

There isn't really a sharp dividing line, but roughly speaking, i guess you can say a permission block chain is one in which an authority can determine participation based on subjective criteria. The point is permissionless in the sense that participation is open to the community. To participate in etherium, as of yesterday, you need to have some ether. So one could say that atheorim is permission. That's why i say the dividing line is not sharp. But effectively, a theorum is permission less.
