William Love's model city was designed around the central concept of a big centralized hydroelectric power plant serving the entire city with 110 volt DC power. By 1894, it was clear that DC was on its way out and AC was the new thing. Industries didn't need to locate next to power plants or along rivers anymore. William T. Love moved on to other projects.
