How Do Vampires Go Out During the Day?

Sylvia McDonald came to us on an overcast afternoon and enough of its pale flesh was uncovered that worse sunlight would likely have destroyed it. On that afternoon my brother Nigel and I agreed to go back to the house of Sylvia McDonald in the hopes of a roof over our heads for a little while. More than that I do not recall the fact that it never said a word is striking either of us as strange in the slightest. They are able to make themselves understood with absolute clarity, though the manner through which they do so has never been clear to me. It may be some instinctive form of hypnosis or mind control.
