Yoshimasa would patronize inkwash painters throughout his time at hegash yama. His gin kakuji complex is much more restrained in its style than the literally gold panelled kin kakuji constructed by his grandfather. He also elevated zenami, another monk turned artist with a particular verve for gardening, into his social circle.
