The Demise of Indian Stories in Opera
I started thinking back, so when I heard South Asian symphony, I was trying to think of what would my priors be like as an audience. And I found that Indian stories that were told through opera have sort of vanished from modern day operatic depiction or imagination. These are not famous operas anymore. So maybe some of the Indian themed operas did not really, you know, make that kind of grade as time went by. Some of these operas just fell off the map literally. People forgot about them,. except for Lakhmeh.
