What Is Dunbar's Number?

Dunbar's number is really the natural limit on the number of meaningful relationships that you can hold at any one time. It varies across individuals from about perhaps 100 to about 250. On average, it's always about 150 across a population. The numbers appear to be what in graph theory would be called attractors. There's something odd about those numbers which causes animals, organizations, whatever to gravitate towards them because somehow they just work better.
