In the 80s, early 80s, people like James rest and Augusto Blassey started saying that moral reasoning doesn't really consistently or at least strongly predict behavior. So how important being a moral person is to your identity was a motivating factor that kind of bridged the gap. And then, you know, probably the next big thing was Colby and Damon's book on moral exemplars where they showed that moral exemplars aren't necessarily exemplary in terms of moral judgment, but they are exemplary for things like moral identity. They're all broadening how we think about what's moral, but the focus is still on what's moral.
