The Pre-Discursive as an Impossibility

Butler: Lacan presents a radical alternative because none of this has to do with ontology. But the problem is that it relies still fundamentally on a kind of telos, so a process that is wholly linear. So as she says on 75, the rendition of Lacan that understands the pre-discursive as an impossibility promises a critique that conceptualizes the law as prohibitive and generative at once.
