The Battle of Toulon

Lecare was the key that unlocked the entire 15 mile front around toulon. The whole force was successfully evacuated, along with thousands of frenchmen who had supported them. British and spanish naval officers scrambled around the harbor trying to destroy as much of the naval intra structure and burn as many french ships as they could. A supply depot and several shipyard facilities were burned and six warships were sunk. Hood was able to take a few ships with him, but the vast majority of the french mediterranean fleet fell back into the hands of the republicans.
