The Importance of Symbolic Communication in the Physical Universe
In every other organism that we look at there is no there's no symbolism so you can go back to the earliest human records. Walker Percy and Lost in the Cosmos makes a huge deal out of this and I think he should because from a flat frame the appearance of symbolic communication is metaphysically equivalent to the beginning of the physical universe. Owen Barfield has some interesting thoughts about animals that I don't really understand but you start you start to see how you can get into some procedures.
