How to Sedate a Patient Post-Intubation

When I think about sedatives, usually my go-to is going to be propofol. The only time I don't use propofol is in a patient who's really horribly hypotensive and can't tolerate it. In terms of dexmetatomidine, we talk about it in the article and I do, I think it's a great drug. Really wouldn't be my first choice drug for a patient in the emergency department who I'm initially sedating.
