The Evolution of Modern Paganism

Paganism was not historically a unified faith and treating it as such is inherently misleading. The modern popular concept of paganism has little to do with ancient pre-Christian practices. Instead, the beliefs that lie at its root are inseparable from late 19th century British occultism and romanticism. Magic and reverence for nature are the two pillars at the core of modern paganism but they are entirely modern.
