Sinn Fein and the Good Friday Agreement in Northern Ireland
Sinn Fein not only won the last assembly elections and would therefore appoint the First Minister, but also the main opposition party in Ireland. That we don't seem to hear much from them on this. Is this our fault or is there something to do with them being careful? I think that the simple reality here is that it was the DUP who pulled Don Storm and they had the power to put it back. And so that is the reality of what the Good Friday Agreement allows. It gives really significant clout to a relatively small party within Northern Ireland. So it's an odd thing, but it is the reality.
