The Horror of Darnell's Childhood
This is not generally considered a horror tale. It's still horror because awful things can happen to you in this world, and they can happened to you not because you're an evil person or you set out to do evil things. In fact, the awful things that happen both in the white people and in this novel happen to blameless creatures, to children. What has clearly happened to this child is what happens to the child in the whitePeople. She has followed certain paths to certain hallowed places where certain processes are enacted. Not really that different from the spawn of Wilson playing at being God with the other kids. I'm just playing here. And it's had fun with the mysteries.
