Constant Was Not a Liberal
Hobbs was an early champion of liberalism in the nineteenth century. But Constant says that hobbs got half way there with his idea of a 'representative' state. Liberalism is very different from romanticism, because you need space to follow your heart and not be told by the state its off limits.
