The Rise and Fall of Richardson
The Yom Kippur War was sparked when a coalition led by Egypt and Syria launched a surprise attack on Israel during the first week of October. The conflict almost immediately drew in the US and the Soviet Union. For a while, it looked like there might be a military confrontation between the two superpowers in the Middle East. Nixon tried to use the crisis to pressure Richardson to fire cocks instead of resigning.
