Lewis Was an Atheist and a Public Intellectual in World War Two
He was prevented from fighting in world war too, because he played this tremendously important role as a public intellectual. And so in some ways, as a sort of substitute, he sheltered children during world war too. He kind of o took children who were refugees from the bombing, took them out of the cities, out of london, and helped to keep them safe. That's part of the inspiration for fernarnia as well, right? Those kids are fleeing in the same way. And that's kind of how it all gets started.
