In the 60s, John Bell took a look at a question about quantum mechanics. The question is something that had vexed a lot of people for a while. It's sort of a more formal version of do parts of the world have properties that are fixed separate from how you look at them? And it turns out quantum mechanics as the answer is no, but you could have other theories that say the answer is yes. So metaphysics is not just about one physical theory, it's about a bunch of them.
