Average American household is more than five thousand dollars in credit card debt. Young people who are most often getting married have college debt, not to mention mortgage debt. The cost of getting married has gone up perhaps ten x since my parents got married. Are you getting ten times more of whatever it is you're seeking by spending ten times more on that wedding? Or maybe, just maybe, you'd be better off putting that money in the bank and giving your first offspring a million dollars when she's ready for college.
