The Evolution of Hominins

Homo Heidelbergensis, the most likely common ancestor of us, lived in Spain between 750 and 850,000 years ago. Their bones show the earliest evidence of cannibalism ever found. The Sime de los Quasos remains are the oldest from which we've ever been able to extract ancient DNA. For the first time, we can really dig into questions of ancestry with direct evidence.
