How Long Did the Near Mission Last?
The Venera missions were the first to realize this is a planet that also has amazingly large shield volcanoes. It just kept getting more like your childhood understanding of of hell or dontase and fernow as we looked more and more. So they're still going today with new plans in the 80s. Vega one and Vega two lasted for 46 and 60 hours, so those were pretty amazing. They survived those amazing down drafts, one to three kilometer drops getting forced down by the winds.
