How to Diagnosis and Treat ADHD
When diagnosing, we definitely want to try to use cultural, culturally competent assessments that is definitely important with helping within this culture. This has led to higher rates of school suspension, less instructional time, higher rates of arrest. And then it also leads to a mental health care desert in our communities where people are afraid or maybe not willing to work within that community because they have this unconscious bias. There was definitely no awareness of how things could definitely get better.
