CHAPTER

What Is a Presidential Record?

The Presidential Records Act applies to pretty much everything the president creates. It's 44 USC 2202, and it says the United States shall reserve and retain complete ownership, possession and control of presidential records. The only other exceptions are just weird materials quote relating exclusively to the president’s own election to the office of the presidency or to the election of a particular individual or individuals to federal, state or local office.
