The Role of Religion in the Evolution of Science
How can we understand the position of religion in relation to an ever deepening scientific understanding, be that of the 19th century or even today? That's a million dollar question really. I do think religions do move their goalposts a bit, because they're flexible over a whole load of things. It doesn't matter hugely if you think there are only four substances that go to create the universe - what matters is what this says about humanity. But when it comes to the question of the human, that is where they tend to draw the line in the sand and say, well, that scientific understanding of the human might be right, but it can't be exclusively right.
