Is There Space in Secure Accommodation?
Children's Commissioner for England cited comments from her reports on children living in secure accommodation, as far back as 2020. Councils are having to come up with makeshift arrangements like flats or hostels or even caravans. These children exist in a grey area of the law with fewer legal safeguards than other children. Some are locked up illegally with no court authorization in place at all. So I guess one of the hopes of this new national court is that more children can come within its remit and have these kinds of orders put in place for them.
