The Importance of Neurodivergence
Melissa: For me, neurodivergence is a recognition that not all brains process, learn, think, and feel in the same ways. And so when you get into some of the more specifics around Neurodivergence, it is referring to autistic folks. Melissa: It's also about equity in classrooms. If I am only planning as an educator for the bell curve of students, if I'm only planning for them, then I'm missing an opportunity to plan for the 20% on the other side of the bell curve,. At worst, it could be causing harm.
