Do I Need to Taper a Benzodiazepine?
Lorazepam is classified as an intermediate acting benzodiazepines. With that comes a half life in the teens range. Onset of action is going to be pretty quick, even with oral it's probably 20 to 30 minutes. IV, we're giving it intravenous, it's going to be quick, it's Going to be onset typically of less than 10 minutes which makes sense why we can use it for management of an acute seizure there.
