In 20 25 years into stephen colbert's time behind the desk at the late show, the covid pandemic hit. After a brief hiatus, he started hosting the show from his home in charleston, south carolina. In that setting, and with everything happening in the world, stephen's presence on camera shifted once again. It became more intimate. And in more and more interviews, he became, in a sense, a grief counsillor. The last ten minutes of the show are largely improvised. There was no room for you to see that aspct of me, or to reveal that part of me. I don't know how to describe it.
