The idea of comparing yourself to indexes came about when fortune magazine, i think in 19 68. And so i think miht have been 16 years old and i was already interested in investing. But one of the things that's really interesting is that this country has pretty, pretty short feedback loops, and it gets things. When jack boble did the index fun, he was absolutely demonized by the press, by the public. Everything on earth are you doing? You want to be average? You call yourself an american, and you're saying that average is good enough. I just find that so interesting that you, of course, not always see van gard wut.
