Mike Marke talks to a veteran political journalist about the rise of independent candidates in Australia. He says it's not just an australian phenomenon, or one afflicting the liberal party. The government has only a one seat majority, so even if just one of these independents is successful, that could be enough to spell the end for the morrison government. If labour doesn't quite get the numbers to govern in its own right, that could mean the s are in the position of deciding what policies pass through parliament.
