How Did That Become Practice in the Church of Corinth?
Early Christians weren't the only ones doing this. This was a common form of prayer and ecstatic trances in other Greek and Roman religions. So it might have been imported from a different tradition. That's why when Paul opens up the conversation about this in 1 Corinthians 12, he says, hey, you know that when you were pagans, you were led astray to mute idols everywhere you were led.
