The Relevance Standard When We're Talking About Bias

In lots of cases, the relevant standard I think people have in mind when they're talking about bias is truth or accuracy. Often the relevant standard is something, some kind of practical norm. So if we've got a weather forecasting method that's consistently too high in its predictions, then because of the way it's inaccurate, we're going to say not only is it unreliable, but it's a biased model. It has certain interesting and radical implications for both morality and rationality can sometimes require us to be biased - including pejorative sense of bias as opposed to theory.
