How to Avoid Cognitive Retrieval in Speech

The more cognitive processing a person is doing, the more likely they are to use foreign words. Non native speakers tend to be aware of them because they often occur right before a word retrieval. So if you're non native speaker, obviously those those foreign words are going to be less familiar, so they will increase your humming and eyeing. And this is a very natural consequence of heavy cognitive retrieval. Also, Senate structure can affect it. If you have embedded clauses, for example, versus a sentence without one, we will also am in that context.
