In King David's day, in the ancient Near East, there was one real cardinal rule for hospitality. If you were a good host, you did this one thing at least: You serve your guest the absolute very best that you have. Hosting is a no expense spared occasion. Serving the very best is a reflection on the character of the host. This is on God's dime. His character is on the line as a good host.
