Introduction
Vladimir Nabokov was born in Russia to a very wealthy and well connected family. He lost it all fleeing one step ahead of the Bolsheviks to Berlin. His politically active father died during an assassination attempt. Vladimir went to England for his studies and from there to Berlin where he wrote poetry and novels.
