How Do You Track Long-Term Impacts of a Product?

We run hold out experiments. We'll keep maybe one or two percent of users in the control group and leave that running for like three or four months, something like that. That allows us to get more insight on the long-term impact of an experiment. This is especially useful for teams that want to assess the impact of changes that might not have impact on D1 retention immediately. For example, we have a team that works on social features, basically connecting learners with other learners on the platform. And sometimes adding those features doesn't immediately impact top-line metrics like DAU, but in the long- term having a more social experience through network effects can impact our top-line metric.
