If it's a task that is pivotal to the rest of the lesson you need to know you've got them all and that they're all going to be engaging fully with it. Instead of doing what you've described where you've got all the questions on the board and the kids have you know four minutes five minutes or whatever to do it, instead just to have one question on the board at a time that everyone who's in that room focuses on for 20 seconds answers on mini whiteboard three two one show me okay sorted out right next question here it is.
