We Can Never Swim to Shore

We are always swimming in our own contexts. When i read the bible, i can't read it in some universally valid way. I can only ever read it as a 20 first century american. That's my context. And as dereda says, there is nothing outside context. The point of the story is that we're supposed to be humble about what we know. We may all be experiencing the same thing from a different perspective. If we look closely enough, if we're patient enough, we will always find the holes well and find the marks of our context.
