There's another sort of, there's a couple of bits of history in here. The Florian and John Keel story has a lot of parallels to this. There's obvious anachronisms in Homer's version of the story which is a pretty strong evidence, that he changed the story, suit his audience. Details like that are added on the story where all you have to do is add a sur to change the story to tweak the central line. It's just how it reflects house stories change with the time.
