In 1994 you published your first collection of short stories, Chelsea Girls and last year HarperCollins reprinted it. Paris Review described Chelsea Girls as a nonfiction novel or fictional nonfiction. Is the book fully autobiographical? Well, I don't know what fully means. The act of writing is a translation and even a form of blindness. Robert Maplethorpe was cute, the kind of boy I really like, slightly evil-looking with black curly hair.
