How to Avoid Doing Too Much Upfront Architecture Planning

In the same sort of place where we do big upfront architecture planning, you know, I remember going to a client one client that you said, I'll be filled by principles and architecture principles. They said, oh, yeah, we've got loads of them. We've got all of them. You know, and they have this amazing spreadsheet, which if you wrote it on index cards, it would cover like all the walls in a room. It's completely incomprehensible that people wouldn't be able to actually make any decisions based on those principles or characteristics. And so, but part of this is the benefit of building these things as fitness functions versus the spreadsheet because you can keep adding to that
