Loretta Lynn's peak years of fame coincided with the women's liberation movement. She couldn't help but sympathise with the women involved and sang a song called We've Come a Long Way Baby. In fact, she said 90% of her songs at her husband Oliver Lin. They fought like cat and dog - he always put her down and called her a stupid hillbilly. He looked on her really as a child and she looked on him as a father figure. But she could give as good as she got and once knocked three of his teeth out.
The former president may well ignore the January 6th committee’s summons; the whole affair may be unceremoniously shut down next year. But that is not to say the process has been in vain. Russia’s
intelligence failures during the war in Ukraine have taken the shine off the security services’ fearsome reputations. And remembering
Loretta Lynn, country music’s most-successful-ever female star.
