The Difference Between Traditional Asian and Traditional European Art
Professor Campbell began by looking at the difference between traditional Asian and traditional European art. He noted that the significant differences lie in their different centers of attention. Western art is generally highly detailed, objects centered, and viewed from a specific individual point of view to convey a message. Eastern painting was not generally factual painting in the sense that it didn't necessarily represent a real scene. It attempted to invoke a transcendent spiritual experience in the viewer.
