The History of Slavery in St. Genevieve

Most communities in colonial North America practiced some form of slavery. So did the French colonists of St. Genevieve also practice slavery? And if they did, were they practicing African chattel slavery or Native American slavery? "We definitely see slavery used here to the point that throughout the colonial period, it's pretty standard at 30 to 40% of the people living here," she says.
