Introduction
Robert glasper is a pianist and composer whose work blurs the lines between jaz hipo and po better than i at. He's worked with everyone from kendrick lama to herby hancock. Most recently, glasper wrote the score alongside composer nick pratel for the h b o series winning time the rise of the lakers dynasty. I spoke with robert glasper about scoring on the fly, the challenge of channelling vintage tones, and what jaz and basketball have in common.
